“As we move towards the bright season of light, remember that it is oh so nourishing and necessary to draw back into ourselves for healing…”
Our monthly Advance Your Practice theme will be Goddess Durga: Awakening Courage
Jai Jai Durga Maa!
Embrace the Earth Mother, the Divine Feminine, Durga–Shakti or Devi as she is also called. One of Durga’s symbols is a bow and arrow, signifying great strength and yogic focus.
In this two-hour “Advance Your Practice” workshop, we will call upon the strength of victorious Durga to assist us into opening our hearts. In the physical practice of yoga, also known as asana, we will explore the metaphor of a bow through bow pose (danurasana). Our practice will lead us through a progressive series of heart openers so that we can explore upward facing bow or wheel pose (urdhva danurasana), forearm wheel (eka pada viparita dandasana) and king pigeon (eka pada rajakapotasana), with lots of opportunity for variations and modifications along the way.
As we move towards the bright season of light, remember that it is oh so nourishing and necessary to draw back into ourselves for healing, just as one would draw back your bow before extending the arrow of your energy out into the fullness of life. End class with a long savasana dedicated to the Goddess Durga. To experience this extended practice, register by May 11 and save $5. Are you a 3 OMS member? Save $5 AND get an additional 10% off!
