It is widely accepted that we cannot strengthen a muscle that our brain does not recognize. Hence the “Deep Core” can become inactive and potentially inhibited due to injury, surgery and pregnancy. Eventually, the outer more superficial core layers fire to compensate which can further destabilize the spine, pelvis, and beyond.
